with Christina Engelmann, Kristen R. Ghodsee, Franziska Haug and Lou Zucker
Alexandra Kollontai and Clara Zetkin were the first to study gender relations under capitalism, examining how economic inequality between the sexes is linked to patriarchal kinship relations and the exploitation and control of women’s bodies and sexuality. For only by understanding how the way we desire, love, and engage in relationships with one another is influenced by the material conditions in which we live can we find practical guidance for bringing about new forms of desiring and relating to one another. We will discuss what we can learn from these early materialist feminist analyses to understand gender inequality and dominance today and for our feminist struggles to reshape social production and reproduction, as well as our friendships and intimate relationships.
We warmly invite you to join us for the book launch and discussion with Christina Engelmann, Kristen R. Ghodsee, Franziska Haug, and Lou Zucker, editors and authors of the anthology “Materialist Feminism: Contemporary Analyses of Gender in Capitalism.” Entry by donation. We look forward to an evening in a cosy atmosphere – come by and join the conversation!
The book presentation and discussion will be held in English.
